 - A noter : des correctifs de points ont été apportés dans ce 3è classement de l'année.

- Pour : Pablo Soria (PS Negrullo) et Pablo Sosa pour lesquels j'avais commis quelques confusions.

- Pour : Robert Fleurke, Andre Jahren, Bjørn Finnestad, John Hammonds, Olaf Lehmann, Rainer Alpen. Pour la course de Mybroga à Cartage 35 (course 39) j'avais fait une erreur de coefficient.

- Pour : Alboreto (Michael Palud), Keni Blood, Mati Falas, Jose FierroFord, Juan Druetta, Dario Fiocca, Enrique Farina, Raoni Frizzo, Carlos Cendejas, Daniel Santana, Juan McMahon, Pablo Sosa et Joan Marco. Les résultats des courses du championnat PanAm n'ont été publiés qu'en octobre. Les courses de Le Mans Sarthe Night (14.04), Laguna Seca 1967 (12.05) et Lime Rock Mountain (09.06) n'avaient donc pas été comptabilisées. Ces courses ont été numérotées en bis pour ne pas avoir à tout renuméroter.

- Participation : 156 pilotes ont disputé au moins une course lors de ce 3è trimestre contre 153 lors du 2è. Pour mémoire, en 2019 c'est 182 pilotes au total qui avaient disputé au moins une course pendant l'année. Pour cet indicateur 2020 est donc en passe de faire quasiment jeu égal avec 2019 : 179 pilotes ont fait au moins une course depuis le début de l'année soit 13 de plus qu'à la fin du 2è trimestre. 146 figurent dans ce classement qui compte donc 17 entrées comme lors du 2è trimestre. 33 pilotes ayant au moins fait une course dans l'année n'ont donc pas encore obtenus de résultats leur permettant de figurer dans ce classement.

Les meilleures progressions : 5 pilotes gagnent plus de 20 places en un trimestre dont José Fierroford, 42è (+37) et Tom Oud, 43è (+41). Lucas N gagne carrément 70 places pour pointer aux portes du Top 50 (51è). Keni Blood confirme son impressionnant parcours puisqu'il quitte la 15è place pour la 8è et figure donc dans le Top 10 en seulement 2 trimestres, ou presque (2 courses seulement lors du 1er). Enfin, Jonny O, le N°1 en titre, retrouve un niveau plus logique puisqu'il gagne 19 places pour intégrer le Top 10. S'il fait un bon dernier trimestre il peut viser une place dans le Top 5 final. Dans le même mouvement on notera aussi le beau glissement d'Enrique Farina (3è l'an dernier) de la 21è à la 9è place.

Pour ce qui est des entrées, on en compte donc pas moins de 17 : la meilleure est celle du belge Frédéric Gubbels, 56è, puis viennent Bob Whitwell et Markus Friedrich, 73 et 81è.

Parmi les pilotes non classés l'an dernier on note donc Keni Blood, mentionné plus haut, mais aussi le brésilien Raoni Frizzo qui fait un retour réussi depuis le 25 mars et pointe à la 25è place. Erik van der Heijden figure, lui, à la 31è.

Pour ce qui est des pilotes dont on note la disparition des pistes durant ce 3è trimestre : ils sont au nombre de 15 à avoir arrêté à l'issue du 2è trimestre contre 8 après le 1er. L'arrêt le plus notable est celui de Gregory Taber qui compte pas moins de 9 podiums et 11 victoires du 15 janvier au 14 juin et figure encore, malgré son absence, à la 7è place du classement provisoire.  

A l'inverse c'est huit pilotes qu'on voit revenir sur les pistes, la moitié d'entre eux ayant roulé en 2019 mais n'étant pas présent en début de saison 2020. On y trouve les argentins Arturo Pereira, Pablo Soria et Pablo Fernandez, le belge Frédéric Gubbels, l'anglais Gareth Hall, l'italien Alessandro Isacchini, le français Philippe Girard et l'américain Ziggy Moonglow.

Pour ce qui est du sang neuf, les nouveaux venus sont au nombre de six, contre trois au trimestre précédent, ce qui est réjouissant, GPL continue d'être attractif : on trouve Felipe Larral, pour représenter le Chili, et deux allemands très rapides, Markus Friedrich et Michael Schade qui ont respectivement des handicaps de -41 et -53 au GPL rank. On compte aussi sur trois anglais pour grossir les rangs : Paul Whitfield, Peter Byles et enfin Pete Bennett qui pointe lui aussi à -41. trois gros clients, donc parmi les nouvelles têtes.  

- Sur le 3è trimestre, 8 pilotes (9 au 2è) ont disputé au moins une vingtaine de courses : Donnie Yourth en compte carrément 39 (contre 41) alors que Enrique Farina en a fait 35 (contre 29). Suivent Joao Marcon, 32, et Alain Maurice, 29, puis 4 pilotes entre 22 et 26.

Depuis le début de l'année c'est plus d'une soixantaine de courses pour 7 pilotes, dont : 114 pour Donnie Yourth et 91 pour Enrique Farina. Dix sont entre 50 et 60, dix autres ont dépassé la quarantaine et 13 autres ont atteint ou dépassé la trentaine. 22 pilotes comptent une vingtaine de courses ou plus. Les pilotes occasionnels sont les plus nombreux, avec une soixantaine d'entre eux qui comptent entre dix et vingt courses et 57 qui en sont, eux, à moins d'une dizaine de courses en 9 mois.

Parmi les pilotes les plus actifs, 13 (10 à fin du 2è trim) participent à au moins cinq ligues : Iestyn Davies a été vu dans 8 championnats différents, rejoint maintenant avec ce nombre par Donnie Yourth et Jani Posta. Deux pilotes ont intégré deux ligues supplémentaires, Alain Maurice (Groundhog et UKGPL) et Tom Johnson (Clandestines et Groundhog).

A l'inverse, 95 pilotes sont fidèles à une ligue.

Hors PanAm, évoqué plus haut, 7 ligues (8 au 2è trim) voient au moins un pilote intégrer leurs rangs lors du trimestre et c'est une quinzaine de pilotes environ (25 au 2è trim) qui sont venus passer une tête dans un championnat dans lequel ils n'avaient pas évolué lors du trimestre précédent.

- 96 courses (106 au 2è trim) ont été disputées, tous niveaux confondus, sur ce 3è trimestre : 27 en juillet, 24 en août et 45 en septembre. Autant pour ce classement à fin septembre, tous les résultats étant disponibles, ce dont je remercie les organisateurs des différentes ligues et Jani Posta pour GPL Weekly. On notera cependant que 4 courses (6 au 2è trim) n'ont pas généré de points pour ce classement car elles comptaient moins de 5 pilotes au départ. 

- Fréquentation moyenne : 12.5 pilotes (en légère hausse, 12.1 lors du 2è trimestre) - Max : 38 chez OAO (sur 2 niveaux, 19 et 19) à Bridgehampton (19 et 26.09). Record de 37 battu, donc.

- Taux d'abandon : stabilité parfaite à 39%, comme au 2è trimestre (1154 départs pour 706 drapeaux à damier). Un peu moins de 35% en juillet, près de 44 en août et de 39 en septembre.

- Ils ont brillé en juillet, août et septembre :

On retrouve une diversité de vainqueurs au 3è trimestre similaire à celle du 1er : 47 contre 46 (32 seulement au 2è). 11 pilotes ont obtenu au moins 3 succès contre 15 sur la précédente période. Keni Blood et Tristan Bot pointent à 8, Mario Wilhelm à 6, alors que Yannick Verheijen et Robert Fleurke, un peu moins dominateur que d'habitude, "se contentent" de 5. 

Pas moins de 19 pilotes (6 seulement au 2è trimestre) ont débloqués leur compteur de victoires en allant enfin en chercher une. Deux ont même fait coup double, Leo Galan Barlo et Lucas N. 6 pilotes (4 au 2è trim) sont allés chercher, eux, un premier podium dont Will Tway qui est allé en cueillir 3. 

- Depuis le début de l'année :

c'est 72 pilotes qui ont triomphé, onze comptant au moins 10 succès. En tête, Yannick Verheijen et Keni Blood avec un nombre de 17, Ulrich Hofmann qui atteint la vingtaine et Robert Fleurke qui devance tout le monde avec pas moins de 22 victoires. 

Par ailleurs, 41 pilotes n'ont pas gagné mais ont quand même obtenu au moins un podium (2è ou 3è place). Marcos Mirande et Phil Thornton en ont 8 et Lasse Oetinger, carrément 11.

Enfin, aux points, les 10 meilleurs du trimestre sont récapitulés dans le tableau ci-dessous, avec leurs points et le meilleur résultat de la période :

The results of the PanAm championship races were not published until October. The races of Le Mans Sarthe Night (14.04), Laguna Seca 1967 (12.05) and Lime Rock Mountain (09.06) had therefore not been accounted for. These races have been numbered in bis so as not to have to renumber everything.

- Participation : 156 drivers competed in at least one race during this 3rd quarter against 153 during the 2nd. As a reminder, in 2019 it is 182 drivers in total who had competed in at least one race during the year. For this indicator 2020 is therefore on the way to make almost equal game with 2019 : 179 drivers have made at least one race since the beginning of the year, 13 more than at the end of the 2nd quarter. 146 are included in this ranking, which therefore includes 17 entries as in the 2nd quarter. 33 drivers having made at least one race in the year have not yet obtained results allowing them to appear in this classification.

The best progress : 5 drivers gained more than 20 places in one quarter, including José Fierroford, 42nd (+37) and Tom Oud, 43rd (+41). Lucas N moved up 70 places to close the Top 50 (51st). Keni Blood confirms his impressive run as he leaves 15th place for 8th place and is therefore in the Top 10 in only 2 quarters, or almost (only 2 races in the 1st). Finally, Jonny O, the reigning N°1, finds a more logical level as he gains 19 places to enter the Top 10. If he does a good last quarter he can aim for a place in the final Top 5. In the same movement we also note the beautiful slide of Enrique Farina (3rd last year) from 21st to 9th place.

As for the entries, there are no less than 17 : the best is the Belgian Frédéric Gubbels, 56th, then come Bob Whitwell and Markus Friedrich, 73rd and 81st.

Among the drivers not classified last year one thus notes Keni Blood, mentioned above, but also the Brazilian Raoni Frizzo who makes a successful comeback since March 25 and points at the 25th place. Erik van der Heijden is in 31st place.

As for the drivers whose tracks disappeared during this 3rd quarter : they are 15 to have stopped at the end of the 2nd quarter against 8 after the 1st. The most notable stop is that of Gregory Taber who has no less than 9 podiums and 11 victories from January 15 to June 14 and still appears, despite his absence, in 7th place in the provisional standings.

Conversely it is eight drivers that we see coming back on the tracks, half of them having driven in 2019 but not being present at the beginning of the 2020 season. There are the Argentinians Arturo Pereira, Pablo Soria and Pablo Fernandez, the Belgian Frédéric Gubbels, the Englishman Gareth Hall, the Italian Alessandro Isacchini, the Frenchman Philippe Girard and the American Ziggy Moonglow.

Concerning the new blood, there are six newcomers, compared to three in the previous quarter, which is pleasing, GPL continues to be attractive : there is Felipe Larral, to represent Chile, and two very fast Germans, Markus Friedrich and Michael Schade, who have respectively -41 and -53 in the GPL rank. We are also counting on three English people to swell the ranks : Paul Whitfield, Peter Byles and finally Pete Bennett who is also at -41. Three big customers, thus among the new faces.

- Over the 3rd quarter, 8 drivers (9 in the 2nd) have competed in at least twenty races : Donnie Yourth counts 39 (compared to 41) while Enrique Farina made 35 (compared to 29). Followed Joao Marcon, 32, and Alain Maurice, 29, then 4 drivers between 22 and 26.

Since the beginning of the year it is more than about sixty races for 7 drivers, of which : 114 for Donnie Yourth and 91 for Enrique Farina. Ten are between 50 and 60, ten others are over 40 and 13 others have reached or surpassed 30. 22 drivers have 20 or more races. The occasional drivers are the most numerous, with about sixty of them having between ten and twenty races and 57 who are less than ten races in 9 months.

Among the most active drivers, 13 (10 at the end of the 2nd trimester) participate in at least five leagues : Iestyn Davies has been seen in 8 different championships, now joined with this number by Donnie Yourth and Jani Posta. Two drivers have joined two more leagues, Alain Maurice (Groundhog and UKGPL) and Tom Johnson (Clandestines and Groundhog).

Conversely, 95 drivers are loyal to one league.

Outside PanAm, mentioned above, 7 leagues (8 in the 2nd trimester) have at least one driver joining their ranks during the quarter and about fifteen drivers (25 in the 2nd trimester) who came to pass a head in a championship in which they had not evolved during the previous quarter.

- 96 races (106 in the 2nd trimester) were run, all levels combined, during this 3rd quarter: 27 in July, 24 in August and 45 in September. So much for this ranking at the end of September, all the results being available, for which I thank the organizers of the different leagues and Jani Posta for GPL Weekly. However, it should be noted that 4 races (6 in the 2nd trimester) did not generate points for this ranking because they had less than 5 drivers at the start.

- Average attendance: 12.5 drivers (slightly up, 12.1 in the 2nd quarter) - Max: 38 at OAO (on 2 levels, 19 and 19) in Bridgehampton (19 and 26.09). Record of 37 beaten, therefore.

- Drop-out rate : perfect stability at 39%, as in the 2nd quarter (1154 departures for 706 checkered flags). A little less than 35% in July, nearly 44 in August and 39 in September.

- They shone in July, August and September :

We find a diversity of winners in the 3rd quarter similar to that of the 1st : 47 against 46 (only 32 in the 2nd). 11 drivers have obtained at least 3 successes against 15 in the previous period. Keni Blood and Tristan Bot point at 8, Mario Wilhelm at 6, then Yannick Verheijen and Robert Fleurke, a little less dominant than usual, "settle for" 5.

No less than 19 drivers (only 6 in the 2nd quarter) have unlocked their victory counter by finally going for one. Two even made double blow, Leo Galan Barlo and Lucas N. 6 drivers (4 in the 2nd trimester) went to seek, them, a first podium of which Will Tway who went to collect 3.

- Since the beginning of the year :

it is 72 drivers who triumphed, eleven counting at least 10 successes. In the lead, Yannick Verheijen and Keni Blood with a number of 17, Ulrich Hofmann who reaches the 20's and Robert Fleurke who is ahead of everyone with no less than 22 victories.

On the other hand, 41 drivers did not win but still obtained at least one podium (2nd or 3rd place). Marcos Mirande and Phil Thornton have 8 and Lasse Oetinger 11.

Finally, in points, the 10 best of the quarter are summarized in the table below, with their points and the best result of the period : 

 On notera qu'il fallait totaliser au moins 2800 points sur le 3è trimestre pour figurer dans le Top 10 de la période, ce qui est nettement inférieur aux 3500 du trimestre précédent, nombre de courses minoré oblige.
