 - Participation : 171 pilotes ont disputé au moins une course lors de ce 1er trimestre contre 146 lors de la même période en 2020. Pour mémoire, en 2020 c'est 189 pilotes au total qui avaient disputé au moins une course pendant l'année.
La révélation de ce début d'année est le brésilien Leo Menegucci, un nouveau venu qui pointe à la 30è place du classement à l'issue du trimestre. Juste derrière lui (31è), on trouve l'anglais Pete Bennett (-41). On constate aussi le retour gagnant de l'énorme Gaizka Lopez (Esp), pas moins de -93 de "handicap" au rank, qui est le mieux classé, 20è, parmi ceux absent du classement l'an dernier. Ils sont 20 à être dans ce cas.
Avec la belle hausse de participation (+15 %) en ce début d'année, on constate avec plaisir l'apparition d'une bonne dizaine de nouveaux pilotes. Un chiffre similaire à l'an dernier. On y trouve un allemand, Don Damis, un bataillon d'anglais, Jack MattF, Singion Hawk, Seb Gore, Will Bennett, et le très véloce Paul Taylor, -52. Il y a aussi l'Argentin Brian Messina, le brésilien Roberto Fratelli et l'Italien Giovanni Centorame. Enfin, venu d'Irlande du nord, Mike Beattie est déjà -27.
On se réjouira aussi du retour d'une douzaine de pilotes, soit le double de l'an dernier :
Pour l'Allemagne, Carsten Grelck, l'Angleterre, Richard Welsh, Steve Bird et enfin Ben Summers, qui ne roulait plus depuis 2007. Pour l'Argentine, Nico Fontana, retiré depuis 2009, pour le Brésil, Eduardo Fossa, pour l'Espagne Alexandre Ojea et Gaizka Lopez, évoqué plus haut, retiré depuis 2009. Pour la France, Hugues Walgraeve, Remy Roesz et le très rapide Frank Verplanken, -50, qui ne roulait plus depuis quelques années. Enfin on note aussi le retour de l'italien Fabio Locarno et du mexicain Pablo De La Torre.
- Sur le 1er trimestre, 20 pilotes ont disputé au moins une vingtaine de courses soit six de plus que l'an dernier : Donnie Yourth reste le plus gros rouleur, accompagné par Enrique Farina, tous deux avec 50 courses chacun sur le trimestre. Suivent Alain Maurice et Raoni Frizzo avec 46 et 42 participations.
Parmi les pilotes les plus actifs, sept (six en 2020) participent à au moins cinq ligues : Enrique Farina fait vivre huit championnats différents, Keni Blood roule dans 7, alors que Donnie Yourth et Raoni Frizzo participent à 6.
A l'inverse, 102 pilotes sont fidèles à une ligue (85 l'an dernier).
- 136 courses ont été disputées, tous niveaux confondus, sur ce trimestre : 32 en janvier, 47 en février et pas moins de 57 en mars. Autant pour ce classement à fin mars, tous les résultats étant disponibles, ce dont je remercie les organisateurs des différentes ligues et Jani posta pour GPL Weekly. On notera aussi qu'aucune course n'a généré aucun points (3 l'an dernier) pour ce classement en comptant moins de 5 pilotes au départ. 4 courses ont compté 7 partants et une seule 6.
Fréquentation :
- Fréquentation moyenne : 12.6 pilotes (en légère hausse, 12.2 lors du précédent résumé) - Max : 37 chez OAO (sur 2 niveaux) à Alta 98 (06 & 13.03). 35 chez UKGPL à Tripoli le 21.03.
- Taux d'abandon : en hausse, à 37 % contre 34 au dernier trimestre 2020 (1715 départs pour 1084 drapeaux à damier).
- Ils ont brillé en janvier, février et mars :
Au total 49 pilotes se sont illustrés en s'adjugeant une victoire lors du trimestre : 11 pilotes ont obtenu au moins 3 succès. Keni Blood en compte carrément 18, Tristan Bot, 12 et Raoni Frizzo, 11.
Par ailleurs, c'est pas moins de 48 pilotes qui, faute d'avoir pu s'imposer, ont su aller chercher un podium, voir plusieurs : parmi eux, Donnie Yourth et David Rainier en comptent 6 chacun, et Ricardo Silva 5.
Enfin, aux points, les 10 meilleurs du trimestre sont récapitulés dans le tableau ci-dessous, avec leurs points et le meilleur résultat de la période :

We also note the winning return of the huge Gaizka Lopez (Spain), no less than -93 handicap at rank, who is the best ranked, 20th, among those absent from the ranking last year. - During the first quarter, 20 drivers have competed in at least 20 races, six more than last year : Donnie Yourth remains the biggest driver, accompanied by Enrique Farina, both with 50 races each during the quarter. Alain Maurice and Raoni Frizzo follow with 46 and 42 participations.
Of the most active riders, seven (six in 2020) participate in at least five leagues : Enrique Farina is involved in eight different championships, Keni Blood drives in seven, while Donnie Yourth and Raoni Frizzo participate in six.
Conversely, 102 riders are engaged in one league only (85 last year).

So much for this ranking at the end of March, all the results being available, for which I thank the organisers of the different leagues and Jani posta for GPL Weekly. It is also worth noting that no race has generated any points (3 last year) for this ranking with less than 5 drivers at the start. 4 races had 7 starters and only one had 6.
Attendance.
- Average attendance : 12.6 drivers (slightly up from 12.2 in the previous summary) - Max: 37 at OAO (on 2 levels) in Alta 98 (06 & 13.03). 35 at UKGPL (on 2 levels) in Tripoli on 21.03.
- Dropout rate : up to 37% from 34 in the last quarter of 2020 (1715 starts for 1084 chequered flags).
- They shone in January, February and March :
A total of 49 drivers have distinguished themselves by winning during the quarter : 11 drivers have achieved at least 3 wins. Keni Blood had 18 wins, Tristan Bot 12 and Raoni Frizzo 11.
In addition, no less than 48 riders were not winners, but were able to get a podium or even several : among them, Donnie Yourth and David Rainier had 6 each, and Ricardo Silva 5.

On notera qu'il fallait totaliser au moins 3900 points sur le trimestre pour figurer dans le Top 10 de la période, ce qui est bien supérieur aux 3300 points de l'an dernier. Logique au vu du nombre de courses disputées en plus d'une année sur l'autre : sur trois mois, 3 courses de plus par semaine en moyenne. 6 pilotes de ce Top 10 figuraient dans le Top 10 annuel 2020 :
Keni Blood (8è), Tristan Bot (2è), Yannick Verheijen (4è), Robert Fleurke (1er), Joao Marcon (6è) et Enrique Farina (7è).
IIt should be noted that it was necessary to score at least 3900 points over the quarter to be in the Top 10 for the period, which is much higher than the 3300 points of last year.
